For those of us who followed the rise and fall of Death Row Records, the name Suge knight would remain evident as a major player in the rap community in America. Birthing big time celebrities that the industry would forever be grateful for.

The record label was founded in 1992  by Suge Knight and Dr. Dre. and was formerly known as Future Shock and Tha Row Records. And at its very peak the label was said to be making over US $100,000,000 a year.

That record label was house to rap royalties. The very rap celebrities that shaped the rap game as we know it today, both directly and indirectly.

And was responsible for releasing multi-platinum hip-hop albums by West Coast-based artists such as Dr. Dre (The Chronic), Snoop Dogg (Doggystyle), Tha Dogg Pound (Dogg Food), and Tupac Shakur (All Eyez on Me) during the 1990s.

In other words it was home to Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog and Tupac.

And then Tupac was murdered, Suge imprisoned and the others left. The record label would late filed for bankruptcy in 2006 and was auctioned to WIDEawake Entertainment for $18,000,000 on January 15, 2009.

Suge Knight has since remained an outcast in the rap empire he helped build because according to reports he caused the death of Tupac and many other bad shit that happened behind the curtain.

He has been the subject of theories in popular culture about the murder of both Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.

With the most compelling theory by ex-detective Russell Poole, who conjectured that Knight had Tupac killed before he could part ways with Death Row Records and then conspired to kill Biggie to divert attention from himself in the Tupac case.

We hear different ugly facts about Suge Knight and never about the few deeds he made possible that can be categorized under the rubric of A Brothers Keeper.

And those few deeds are so important that we need to make mention of them. And no other person can do justice than Suge himself.

The interview below says it all, how Suge knight Saved Snoop Dog, Nate Dog and Dr,Dre from going to prison. And that is enough for Suge knight to earn respect in quarters where true comradeship is respected.

 

It is amazing to know that though he did this much for them to stay out of prison.  In September 2018, pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter in a fatal 2015 hit-and-run, was sentenced to 28 years in prison.
