Humans get married for love or for lust and sometimes the union hits the rock and that is the end to a dream that was shared with love as the basis.
Divorce is on the rise in different cultures today. A tale sign of how incompatible human beings can become after the butterflies stop dancing to a certain tone.
People change and so does the desires that once governed their decision to get yoked to another human being in marriage.
And this is the case with Will Smith and his first wife.
But it is not at all surprising. Because today we live in a world where celebrities are the perfect examples of the things that has gone wrong in this world.
And divorce is very prevalent amongst American celebrities. They don’t last in marriage and the marriages themselves are a display of everything that marriage should never become.
Only few marriages in Hollywood stay together. A small number!
The recent Will smith and Jada Pinkett infidelity scandal has seen many people begin to ask questions.
And that curiosity has opened a page in the actor’s past that many didn’t even know anything about.
1. Who Is Will Smith First Wife?
Will smith first wife is Sheree Zampino.
Not many people are aware of the fact that Will Smith was married before meeting Jada Pinkett.
The marriage also produced a son. Which in certain cultures, would translate to “the marriage produced an heir”.
But sometimes the presence of a child is not enough to rekindle dying flames and the end result, is oftentimes DIVORCE.
Will Smith married Sheree Zampino in 1992. And their son Willard Carroll “Trey” Smith III was born on November 11, 1992.
The couple ended the marriage in 1995.
Many people became disturbed after the Red Table Talk show that saw Jada Pinkett tell Will Smith of her sexual escapade with August Alsina, on TV. An episode that got million of views.
For many, Jada Pinkett was disrespectful and didn’t deserve the actor.
“Another woman wouldn’t have done that” They fumed.
It was the mindset that led many people to the discovery of a past marriage that didn’t last that long.
And they have been making comparisons ever since.
2. Was He Affected By The Divorce?
Things happen in peoples life that change them. Sometimes the changes come with a violence enough to alter perspectives.
And at other times, the experience is simply a necessary shift void of any kind of regrets. For Will smith the experience, was the former.
In one of Jada Pinkett’s Red Table Talk episode. Will Smith divulged how the divorce messed him up.
According to him.
“With Sheree and with Trey, that was a really difficult time. Divorce was the worst thing in my adult life, divorce was the ultimate failure for me,”
“I’ve been hurt a lot in my adult life, but I don’t think anything touches the failure of getting divorced from my 2-year-old son’s mother,” he added.
Obviously, Will Smith first wife is a reminder of what could have been, especially now that the Jada Pinkett and August Alsina scandal has left many disappointed.
“If a man’s not a great husband then he loses his parental rights. And I’m a way better father than I am a husband.” He continued.
“Because of my experience of seeing [my dad] punch my mother, I knew that my kids would never see me do anything violent towards their mothers, but in the first couple years of Trey’s life, because Sheree and I were divorced, I think my desire to never have my son see me in that way made me more absent as a father,” he continued. “Sheree and I really struggled with each other needing the other person to do it their way. She needed me to father the way she wanted Trey fathered, and I’m not that guy. I’m not the parent-teacher meeting, throwing baseballs with the kids [guy], and I beat myself up for that for a while, wanting to be that dad. I am the ‘We are going to build something together for work’ dad.”
And the fact that he was just 24 years old when his son came into the world, explains his supposed failure as father.
He was still very young and immature to properly handle that responsibility.
“I brought him home, and I remember we put him in the bassinet. It was like stark terror. I’m totally responsible for this life… I just cried so hard. It makes me teary right now.”
Will Smith first wife shared life with the actor during a time when he was till immature and was till trying to find himself.
But that was in the past. These days they all get along, even with Jada Pinkett who is now the mother hen.
