Nigeria At 65: Gbaramatu Students Celebrate with Aketekpe Sports Event

Gbaramatu Pupils Mark Nigeria’s 65th anniversary with Thrilling Aketekpe Sports Competitors

Dignitaries, families, and community members came together to cheer on the athletes and celebrate Independence Day with enthusiasm and vibrancy during the event.

The National Organization of Gbaramatu TRainees (NAGS) organized a diverse occasion that that consisted of a series of athletic competitions, such as running and long-distance operating, along with a relay and a historic discussion, finishing in the standard March Past event.

The 2025 Pere of Gbaramatu (Aketekpe) Athletic contest was kept in Oporoza, the resources of the Gbaramatu Kingdom, as a crucial element of Nigeria’s 65th wedding anniversary of self-reliance.

Fiyewei House took top honors, accumulating a total of 1,046 points to claim the championship title adn a cash award of 500,000, outpacing five other competing houses.

Akpata House secured the runner-up position with a total of 537 points, taking home a prize of 300,000. Ebiabu trailed closely behind, claiming third place with 260 points and a reward of 200,000. The remaining top spots were filled by Ogeh, Oboro, and Etibo, in that order.

NAGS leaders expressed that the yearly event goes beyond just being a competition, highlighting it as an opportunity for unearthing talent, fostering unity, and celebrating cultural identity.
