The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has refuted claims of a disagreement between himself and Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra STate and Labour Party’s presidential hopeful for the 2023 elections.

Earlier reports had suggested that the Olubadan was displeased after Obi congratulated him on his installation, referring to him as “my dear brother.” Critics including Oriyomi Hamzat, Reno Omokri, Lere Olayinka argued that such a term was inappropriate when addressing a monarch.

However, Oba Ladoja, in a phone conversation confirmed by Prof. Pius Abioje, clarified that there is no animosity.

“No, who said that? Why should I be angry with Peter Obi calling me his brother and friend? Am I not his brother and friend?” the Olubadan said.

In Summary Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Ladoja, denies any disagreement with Peter Obi over being called a brother and friend. Critics had raised concerns over the term used by Obi in addressing the monarch, but Oba Ladoja confirms there is no animosity and sees no issue with being referred to in such a manner.
